FOOF Meeting 6/20/16

As a follow-up to the Bonhoeffer series, on Monday we will view a sermon by Gavin Seim about our responsibilities when civil government becomes evil.

Gavin Seim set up a live stream to over 70,000 people which probably saved four innocent lives and exposed the FBI trying to get one of the four people to do something so the FBI could shoot them dead.  Since them, the federal government and state governments of Nevada and Oregon have imprisoned, in solitary confinement, people whose crime, was at most trespassing, but whose real threat was educating citizens of their Christian responsibilities and Constitutional rights.  Gavin is speaking around the country to alert people as to what is going on and what are our responsibilities as Christians.  Gavin spoke in God’s Country Church this past May on “Repentance, Law, and Action” and we will view a video of this sermon.

FOOF Meeting 6/13/16

On Monday, June 13th, the discussion on Bonhoeffer’s life, the Bible and current culture continues!   Not all questions were discussed so Mark has offered to return for one more FOOF session to discuss all loose ends from the Bonhoeffer series.  Bring your handout sheets, if you hung on to them, and be prepared to discuss topics that weren’t covered in the previous 5 sessions.

FOOF Meeting 6/6/16

On Monday, June 6, we will conclude the series on Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  The final session is titled “Come and Die.”

When Jesus calls a man, He bids him not to clean up his act, but rather calls him to carry out God’s Will, even if it means death.   In an age of persecution, Christians need to make the best use of everything.   In Nazi Germany, Bonhoeffer knew he had to keep himself in a good place mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  Spiritual exercises built up his spiritual reserves to get him through tough times.

Even if you have not attended any of the previous sessions on Bonhoeffer, you are welcome to join the group.  Mark leads a great discussion after the DVD, tying together the life of Bonhoeffer, the Bible and our current culture.

FOOF will meet through the end of June and then taking a summer break until September.
